History
The study of foreign languages was established within the Faculty of Literature in 1969. In 1988, it became an independent faculty with programs in English, French, Russian, Italian, German, Urdu, Spanish and Japanese languages and literatures. The Faculty of Literature and Foreign Languages is not merely a language centre. It is a fully fledged faculty with eight departments, which not only offer basic undergraduate courses, but also courses in literature, linguistics and translation studies for freshman, sophomore and senior students.
The German department’s PhD is in collaboration with the University of Postdam, Germany. Second languages taught at the Faculty include, Korean, Chinese, and Catalan.
