Islamic Republic of Iran
A Member of
Global Entrepreneurial Monitor (GEM)

The Faculty of Entrepreneurship, affiliated to the University of Tehran, has been seeking to become a member of GEM since its reception. Fortunately, the measures taken by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and introduction of GEM track records here paved the way for Iran’s membership on October, 4, 2007. Thus following Turkey and Kirgizistan, Iran is the third country in the Middle East that has joined the Global Entrepreneurial Monitor.

The benefits of GEM’s membership for Iran are as follows:
1. Continuous evaluation of entrepreneurship development in Iran.
2. Information and knowledge acquisition on the policy effectiveness and entrepreneurship development programs in Iran.
3. Entrepreneurship benchmarking with other countries through:

- Comparing the level of Iranian entrepreneurial activities with world average.
- Comparing the level of Iranian entrepreneurial activities with developing and undeveloped coutries.

4. Familiarity with global experiences, especially in developed countries with regard to their entrepreneurial policies and development programs.
5. Generation of global entrepreneurial knowledge in Iran.
6. Entrepreneurship development in Iran.
